Grand tour racing makes an appearance on the PlayStation with GRAN TURISMO. Beginners will want to play the Arcade mode and hit one of the games 11 unique tracks. By winning races in the A, B, and C classes, new cars, tracks, and options will become available. Where the game really shines, though, is in the Gran Turismo mode. Players start out with a small amount of cash to buy a first car, but the player must pass several licensing tests before they can race out on the track. The licensing exams are a tutorial to the game?s controls and are not as menacing as they sound. Once out on the track, all of the nearly 150 different cars have unique quirks that take some time to learn. To have any success, the player must learn to adjust to the understeer of rear-wheel drive cars, the oversteer of front-wheel drive vehicles, and the touchy controls of a four-wheel drive automobile. With two unique modes of play, GRAN TURISMO has something for arcade racing fans as well as hardcore simulation freaks.

Modo Hi-Fi
No modo Quick Arcade, vença as quatro pistas no easy nas três classes. Você terá mais quatro pistas disponíveis. Vença as oito pistas no hard, nas tres classes, para abrir o GT Hi-Fi, em que o processamento é de 60 frames por segundo, o dobro do normal! No modo Gran Turismo basta vencer o GT World Cup. Veja o final e entre no Special Event para entrar no GT Hi-Fi.
Pistas extras Vença as pistas do Quick Arcade com as três classes de carros (A, B e C) no nível Easy. Cada pista liberará outra. Serão oito no final.
Modo GT Hi-Fi No modo GT Hi-Fi, a velocidade dos gráficos fica em 60 quadros por segundo, o dobro do normal. Assim a tela fica com uma animação melhor, mas os detalhes ficam perdidos. Você pode acioná-lo tanto no Quick Arcade como no Gran Turismo.
No Quick Arcade - Termine as pistas no nível de dificuldade hard e com as três classes de carros. Assim, o modo GT Hi-Fi estará aberto. No Gran Turismo - Basta vencer o GT World Cup.

Para aprender a passar nos exames para tirar as licenças entre no Replay Theater no menu principal, e depois entre em Demonstration..., e procure na lista os replays dos exames.
